HealthInfo West Coast-Te Tai Poutini
HealthOne is a system for sharing electronic patient records. It's available to South Island health professionals, including GPs, hospital doctors, pharmacists, community nursing services and allied health professionals (such as your chiropractor, dietitian, occupational therapist, osteopath, physiotherapist and podiatrist).
The purpose of HealthOne is to provide better healthcare. With a shared care record, your relevant health information is available to the health professional currently caring for you.
The ability to share data and access the latest information leads to faster, better-informed and safer decisions.
Only authorised health professionals can access clinical information through HealthOne, and the data is safe and confidential. Every user of HealthOne signs a strict user protocol and is assigned a unique user ID that needs a password for access.
All access to information by authorised users is monitored and audited to ensure it's appropriate and justified.
If you don't want your health information shared through HealthOne, you can opt out of the system by telling your GP, pharmacist, hospital doctor or community nurse. Or, you can call the freephone 0508-837-872 or email testsafesouth@cdhb.health.nz.
But as the whole purpose of HealthOne is to provide better healthcare, you should talk to a health professional you know well such as your GP before making the decision to opt out.
