Green Prescription (physical activity)

Puka Rongoā Kākāriki

Green Prescription is a support and motivation service that helps people get more active. It includes free consultations with a Green Prescription coordinator followed by regular contact and continued support. Together you'll form an activity plan suited to your individual needs.

Green Prescription programmes include home-based programmes, community-based activities, Be Active programmes and nutrition support from a registered dietitian. Depending on your goals, you may be eligible for free sessions at the West Coast Primary Health Organisation gym.

People with diabetes may also be able to get ten free multi-swim sessions at their local pool.

Green Prescription is funded by the West Coast Primary Health Organisation and Sport Canterbury West Coast, so there's no cost for these programmes.

Ask your GP, practice nurse or allied health professional such as a chiropractor, dietitian, occupational therapist, osteopath, physiotherapist or podiatrist if Green Prescription could be right for you.

Or contact the West Coast Green Prescription team through their Facebook page for more information or to request a referral.
