Other support groups and exercise classes

If you have a breathing disorder, it's important that you maintain and improve your fitness. Community groups in several places around Canterbury provide support and exercise classes. The exercise classes typically include gentle, medium to high level weight, Theraband, stress ball, and scarf exercises, led by a trained health professional. The Canterbury community respiratory support and exercise groups brochure has information about the locations and meeting times.

Many people go to these classes to get started before taking part in the Canterbury Better Breathing Programme.

You may also want to ask your general practice team about the Green Prescription programme.

Look at the Christchurch City Council and Active Canterbury websites for additional classes and exercise programmes.
