Urine infection (UTI) in men
Urine infections (also known as UTIs or cystitis) are less common in men than women. Most infections are easily treated with short courses of antibiotics.
Symptoms of a urine infection include having to urinate (wee) more often than usual, burning, stinging and fever.
Your doctor may recommend tests to check your bladder, prostate or kidneys. This is more likely if you are under 50 or if you have an infection more than twice in a few months.
Sometimes the infection can spread up the urinary system, infecting the kidneys. This is called pyelonephritis and can make you very unwell.
It is important to see a doctor if you have symptoms of an infection and they don't go away quickly on their own.
