The Specialist Mental Health Service, a division of Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand Waitaha Canterbury provides mental health services in Canterbury.

Mental health services are provided at Hillmorton Hospital, The Princess Margaret Hospital and at various community sites including Ashburton.

Accessing mental health services

If you need urgent or emergency mental health care, call 0800‑920‑092 (24 hours, seven days a week).

Staff may visit you at home. If you are asked to attend an appointment at Hillmorton Hospital, you will need to go to the Fergusson building. This map will help you find where you need to go to. The Fergusson building is building 15 on the map and the best entry to use is entry F. These photos (Sign to look for at the Sylvan St entrance, and Entrance to building) may also be helpful.
