Safe use, storage, & disposal of medicines

In case of poisoning

Contact the Poison Information Service immediately: 0800 POISON (0800‑764‑766), or seek medical advice from another health professional.

Phone 111 for an ambulance if:

Do not try to make the person vomit or give them food or liquid until you have been given advice.

It is important to use medicines carefully according to the instructions on the label or packaging.

Follow printed storage instructions, otherwise the medicines can degrade and lose their effectiveness. If storage instructions are unclear or missing, check with a pharmacist. Keep medicines out of sight and reach of children.

Return unused medicines, or medicines that are past their expiry date, to a pharmacy. Do not throw medicines into the rubbish or flush them down the toilet.
