Induction of labour

Induction is when labour is started artificially instead of letting it happen naturally. Women are offered an induction if it seems safer for the baby to be born sooner rather than later.

Canterbury DHB's leaflet on Induction of labour explains more about how induction is done and what you're likely to experience.
