The Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It's for people who need urgent treatment for serious illnesses or injuries.
If you have a minor injury or illness or a long-term condition, visit your general practice team. See After-hours medical care to find out what you should do if you need health advice or health care after hours.
You may be referred to the Emergency Department by your general practice team or the ambulance service. You can also go to the Emergency Department yourself.
