The Diabetes Centre
The Diabetes Centre offers advice, support and specialist follow-up for people in Canterbury with type 1 diabetes or complicated type 2 diabetes. Your doctor may refer you to see a specialist at the Diabetes Centre.
The Diabetes Centre is on the ground floor, Christchurch Outpatients building, 2 Oxford Tce.

The Diabetes Centre team includes diabetes specialists, diabetes nurse specialists, diabetes youth nurse, podiatrists, dietitians, and psychologists. There is a Māori diabetes nurse specialist, a Māori diabetes health worker and a Pacific diabetes nurse educator available.
Diabetes services for Mid Canterbury
Ashburton diabetes services include a dietitian, diabetes nurse specialist, visiting diabetes podiatrist and visiting diabetes specialist.
Ashburton diabetes services are in Community Services, Ashburton Hospital, Elizabeth St, Ashburton.

Diabetes Christchurch
Diabetes Christchurch is at 21 Carlyle St, Sydenham. It's open from 9 am to 4 pm weekdays and provides:
- Diabetes supplies, such as blood glucose meters and strips, finger prickers, insulin pens and supplies, sugar-free foods and more.
- Activities and support groups.
- An information centre and library.
- Recipe books and education material.
- Educational and social meetings.
- Viewpoint, a local newsletter.
- Access to a registered podiatrist by appointment.

Diabetes services for Māori and Pacific peoples
The following services are available in Canterbury for Māori and Pacific peoples. In most cases, your healthcare professional can refer you to the appropriate service.
- Canterbury District Health Board, Māori Diabetes Service and Pacific Diabetes Service – Information available from The Diabetes Centre.
- Te Puawaitanga ki Ōtautahi Trust – A kaupapa Māori provider of a range of health, education and social services that promote the health, education, culture, history and wellbeing of Māori women and their whānau.
- He Waka Tapu – A charitable company providing health and nutrition services, exercise programmes and more.
- Tangata Atumotu Trust – Community health service for Pacific peoples.
Diabetes Canterbury Youth
Diabetes Canterbury Youth is a branch of Diabetes New Zealand. It supports young people living with diabetes in Canterbury. It runs several events a year, including a summer camp. Follow Diabetes Canterbury Youth on Facebook to keep up with their activities.
