The Diabetes Centre

The Diabetes Centre offers advice, support, and specialist follow-up for people in Canterbury with type 1 diabetes, or complicated type 2 diabetes. Your doctor may refer you to see a specialist at the Diabetes Centre, or to some of the Group Education Classes.

The Diabetes Centre is located at:

550 Hagley Ave, Christchurch

Open: Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5 pm

The Diabetes Centre team includes diabetologists, diabetes nurse specialists, diabetes youth nurse, podiatrists, dietitians, and clinical psychologists. There is a Māori diabetes nurse specialist, a Māori diabetes health worker, and a Pacific diabetes nurse educator available.

Diabetes services for Mid Canterbury

Ashburton Services include: dietitian, diabetes nurse specialist, visiting diabetes podiatrist, and visiting diabetes physician.

Located in Community Services, Ashburton Hospital, Elizabeth St, Ashburton.

Open: Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4.30 pm

Diabetes Christchurch

Diabetes Christchurch operates from the ground floor of the Diabetes Centre building at 550 Hagley Ave. It is open from 9 am to 4 pm weekdays, and provides:

Diabetes Youth Canterbury

Diabetes Youth Canterbury is an incorporated society, which helps young people up to the age of 20 who have diabetes. It is run by volunteer parents. Diabetes Youth Canterbury provides financial, educational, and emotional support through lobbying, education, camps, activities, books, equipment, and newsletters.
