Medicines & sport

Using some medicines is prohibited in sport. If you are an athlete and need treatment for a medical condition, you will need to check whether the medicines you are prescribed are permitted. If not, you will need to apply for a therapeutic use exemption.

If you compete at national or international level you will need to apply for the exemption before you start taking the medicine.

Ask your doctor whether the medicine they prescribe is allowed in sport. You can also check your medicines online, using Drugfree Sport's checking medications page.
