Type 1 diabetes

In type 1 diabetes, your body doesn't make enough of a hormone called insulin. Insulin lowers the amount of sugar in your blood, so if you don't have enough your blood sugar levels rise.

This page from Diabetes New Zealand has more detailed information about type 1 diabetes and the symptoms.

See your general practice team if you are worried you might have diabetes.
