Preparing for oral surgery

If you take blood-thinning medication such as warfarin or aspirin, discuss this with both your dentist and your GP well before any oral surgery. They will then be able to let you know what you should do with your medication before and after the surgery.

If you have heart problems you should also discuss this with your dentist, GP or cardiologist. Some heart problems (such as heart valve disease) may mean you need antibiotics when you have the surgery.
